Assumptions & Formulae

Ellipsoidal — 2:1 semi-elliptical: head depth D/4, full head volume πD³/24.
Spherical — hemispherical: head depth D/2, full head volume πD³/12.
Torispherical — ASME F&D standard: crown radius L = D, knuckle radius r = 0.06·D. Depth L − √((L−r)² − (D/2−r)²). Partial fill computed by Simpson’s-rule integration of the crown + knuckle cross-section.
Flat — no dish volume; total = cylinder only.
